4 Stars Sony camera
I love this camera…great for starter. Still so much to learn about the features…some confusing.

4 Stars Great DSLR for moving up from a point-and-shoot because of Live View
There is really only one reason to choose this camera over the more established Nikon and Canon offerings and that is Live View. To put it simply, this is the ONLY DSLR with the ability to use the LCD screen to compose and take your picture with no sacrifice in focus speed vs. using the optical viewfinder. This is similar to how you use a point-and-shoot. Thus it is a great camera for those who prefer to take pictures using the LCD screen.

Canon and Nikon both offer a form of live view that relies on contrast focus to take the picture which is slower and less accurate.

I happen to love taking picture using the LCD screen in part because I wear a motorcycle helmet taking pictures which won’t allow me to use the viewfinder on a traditional DSLR. Those who wear glasses or who like to shoot from the waist, ground, or overhead will also really appreciate this.

If this feature is not important to you, you are better off getting the Canon or Nikon as they are a more mature platform with more support than Sony DSLRs.

Keep in mind that the larger sensor on a DSLR allow a much better picture than any point-and-shoot. You will really notice this in low light/indoor shots where you can take pictures largely without flash which always looks so much better. You will also notice a much faster frames per second rate and much more flexibility in composing shots using custom settings.

Those who simply want a point-and-shoot simplicity can set it on automatic and get great looking shots.

5 Stars great and easy to use
I bought the camera to replace my old 35 mm Cannon, it is as fantastic but digital, I only wish it could also take video, how difficult is that? even my cell phone can. Great product.

5 Stars Digital Photography accessible to newcomers
The Sony Alpha 300 is a very nice mid entry level camera to anyone with a desire to explore digital photography.

I had first purchased the Alpha 200, and about a week later, Sony launched the Alpha 300. I was able to return my out of the box camera, and ordered this newer model. I am glad I did, because of all the features that this camera has, as I will briefly describe below.

It is a fantastic piece of equipment that allows amateurs, and mid level photographers to engage in their creative shooting, while using some of the advantages of a point and shoot camera.

One of the main features that makes this camera so desirable is its ‘live preview’ feature on its LCD screen.

I was used to shooting photos on a Sony Cyber before upgrading to a digital SLR. The few days I had the Alpha 200 I hated the fact that I had to look in the viewer. But with the Live preview function in this camera, I was satisfied of being able to shoot as I had already been shooting for about 3 years, and do it with much better results with this 10Mb pixel camera.

I spent a couple months shooting with the automatic setting, which is just as using a point and shoot camera.

The real power of this camera is unleashed when you start playing with the other shooting settings. I have already transitioned into only using this camera on its manual setting, and being able to create certain moods in the photographs I have shot, all by controlling exposure and aperture, the two technical elements that are required in photography.

They are easily controlled and can be changed on the fly, while photographing your subject matter, by a simple button and a dial.

A less known feature is the ability to take 3 shoots per second, with different exposure settings, using the EAB (Exposure Auto Bracketing) setting, very useful for those who want to combine 3 shots into one, using postprocessing with either Photoshop, or any other graphics program.

The camera is compact, its weight is very manageable, and the life of the battery allows you to take as many photos as you want to create photographic essays on whatever subject you like.

I definitely recommend this camera to anyone getting into the fantastic world of digital photography. As I said, you can set the camera in automatic, and learn to use it, and gradually play with the other settings until you are using it as it is meant to be used.

5 Stars Greate Value Product
I think for Taking Corner Shot, High or low Height shots the Live LCD is boon.

Camera Battery rocks, Decent options for Lense from G, DT and Ziess Lense.

Camera is very very affordable compared to same Feature in Nikon and Canon where we have to pay more then $ 500 for just Normal Lens with VR (Vibration Reduction) as it inbuild in Sensor.

I think CMOS Sensor could have render image Better but Price Vs Value Ratio may go up then.

5 Stars HVL-F58AM
I am new on taking photo I bought DSLR just to take picture for my kids and for my family I own A200. When I see this flash i started to read some flash issue. then I came up to an end that i got the right DSLR in my hands so i did not think twice to order this in AMAZON. Now I got it, and it is excelent superb!!!! I take photos on recognition day of my kids and there is a dance number that I use this flash cintinues shot and all shot are clear… it just like taking picture in the mid of the sunlight… I know its exargerating but… now I Am planning to get A700 and another set of orders in this site will be placed for this flash gun…

5 Stars Good Flash
This unit works well. It is bright enough to light up a wide angle shot in a small hall with some ambient light, without blowing out close up shots. It has a fast recharge, and good color balance. I prefer the results obtained when using an aftermarket opaque white diffuser, reducing mirror/glass glare or “stars”, and providing a more uniform exposure.

5 Stars Best Flash you could ever find
This is without a doubt the best flash you could ever find and own… I am an enthusiast amateur and I can tell to anyone without a photographic knowledge that you will be fascinated with this and to the people that do know a little bit more (or a lot) you can just relay on the specification because they are all true and they are AWESOME. You wont regret the buy of this flash!!

5 Stars HVL-F58AM and A900
The flash works perfectly with my A900. It recharges quickly and they work together to do a good job properly exposing images.

5 Stars I love this flash !
I bought this flash mainly to use on my A-700. I had been looking at the HVL-F42AM, but decided to spend more for the extra power. This flash is big, easy to use, has more features than I’ve had time to explore yet, is very quiet, has fast recycling time & best of all, it’s cool how the head pivots. I bought this just in time to celebrate Halloween with my 1 yr. old grandson. The high-speed sych. worked great outdoors. I used it mostly for fill flash. Using indoors, the built in flash card works great when bouncing it off ceiling & walls which makes for a more natural looking picture with a little catch-light in the eyes. The wireless function works great also. I’ve used it off-camera (wireless)with another flash I own for even more fun. After having finally getting my hands on this flash & using it, I am well satisfied with my decision.

Lowepro Nova 140 AW Camera Bag Black

No need to let the weather stop you from shooting. The Nova 140 AW includes a 360-degrees All Weather Cover that protects your gear as you work. All-around utility features include overflap lid to increase protection from the elements, dual memory card pockets on interior of lid, front accessory pocket, mesh side pockets, padded strap and cushioned grab handle tailored for comfort and durability, plus a belt loop so you can wear as a beltpack.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Lowepro Nove 140 AW Camera Bag, chestnut brown
I have an earlier model of this bag, it is years old, showing no signs of wear. I got a new camera, so of course I looked for a bag like the old one, and this is as close as I could get. This bag is made just as well as my other one, the color is a nice brown that is not overstated. The bag is large enough for a digital SLR, mine is a Nikon P90. It fits with room to spare, and has a divider for the main compartment that adjusts with velcro to keep the camera sitting snug. There are little pouches for memory cards, a place for a charger, it is an all in one place bag great for trips. It has a comfortable shoulder strap that is adjustable. I like this bag, and would recommend it to anyone with a medium size DSLR.

5 Stars Pretty good good starter bag
I got this bag for my Nikon FM10 (with 35-70mm zoom lens) which I got for an Intro Photography class. It’s just the right size for this camera, plus it has space for at least several rolls of film or extra lenses.

It’s also outfitted with slots for memory cards, so digital cameras can find a good home here as well.

It’s waterproof, lightproof and padded enough to handle everyday jolts.

There are two padded dividers on the inside that are secured with velcro. They have flaps and can be adjusted to accommodate SLRs, pocket cameras, and others. I wouldn’t get this model, however, if you need to carry a telephoto lens (it’s too small) or if you’re looking to carry around more than two extra lenses. Otherwise, it’s a great little bag.

5 Stars Great small sized camera bag
Lowepro Nova 140 AW Camera Bag (Ultramarine Blue)

This is a great camera bag. It is very well padded with two movable dividers that use velcro to attach to the sides of the bag. It also has many well placed pockets to hold memory cards, filters, etc. I have my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28, lens hood, battery charger, extra battery, included cables and memory card all in this bag, although it is a tight squeeze. The only improvement I would like to see is for the bag to be made a little bit wider-I probably should have ordered the Nova 160 for a little extra room. In spite of this, I would highly recommend this camera bag to anyone with a smallish camera kit-I think you will love it.

Sakar Digital Concepts All Weather SLR Camera Backpack Case

Featuring a fully-padded interior with soft, adjustable velcro dividers, this case is perfect for the photographer on the go. This lightweight backpack is constructed of water-resistant nylon, and has room for an average-sized digital SLR camera body, up to 2 compact flashes, and 3 short to medium-length zoom lenses. In addition, small accessories can be stored in the front zippered pouch — which has several small pockets inside — as well as the zippered mesh pocket located inside the main compartment.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Digital Concepts Backpack
I really like the backpack itself, but the inserts are terrible. They’re cheap and flimsy and don’t hold anything in place.

4 Stars A decent little camera bag
This is a decent little camera bag that allows all the essentials to be carried. It holds my camera body, a standard lens, 200mm zoom lens, a macro lense plus a couple more smaller lenses or flash. Still has room for the charging cable. One other smaller compartment to store extra batteries, pens, etc.

5 Stars Extremely handy and compact
A great tool to carry my Nikon D80 camera and its accessories when on the go. It is light and compact. You barely feel you are carrying it… The waterproof overall covering is very practical as an added protection even if you are holding an umbrella.
